National Night Out

National Night Out

The Sigourney Police Department and Police Auxiliary is sponsoring the seventh annual National Night Out. National Night Out is scheduled for August 1st from 5-8 pm on the Sigourney square.  With your help we hope to continue this family oriented night out.

We read the news stories. We watched the protests. We heard the speeches. National Night Out 2017 is a tremendous opportunity for us all to display the great things that are going on in our community, in law enforcement and with our partnerships. For years we have been actively promoting the vital importance of neighborhood camaraderie and police-community partnerships. This will be a big year for National Night Out. Let’s join forces and really bring the community out!

National Night Out (NNO) is “America’s Night Against Crime.”   Communities across the country celebrate with a variety of different events and activities.  NNO is designated to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and togetherness, and build police-community partnership.

In order to have another successful event we need your help.  We are looking for organizations, businesses, churches, etc. to participate and either have a booth with an activity and/or make a donation.  Your booth could promote your business, organization or cause but please make the activity the main focus.  Any family friendly or educational activity is encouraged.  Donations can be anything from money to purchase prizes, promotional items from your business or organization, or your time and assistance in organizing this event.  Booth registration and participation is free of charge but you must register.  A few booth suggestions are listed on the other side of this letter, but please feel free to use your imagination.  We also need a variety of food vendors.  Last year we provided free entertainment which was enjoyed by many.

We look forward to hearing from you and look forward to seeing you, your family, business or organization on August 4th. You can begin to register at any time, but for planning purposes please register your booth, activity or entertainment by Friday, June 30, 2017.  Please contact Ashley Fry  at the Sigourney Police Department if you have any additional questions.  Donations and registrations can be sent by mail to the Sigourney Police Department at 100 North Main St., Sigourney, IA 52591 or placed in the City Hall drop box.
