CHARGES WILL BE IMPLEMENTED FOR LEAVING MOWED GRASS AND OTHER DEBRIS IN THE STREETS AND ON SIDEWALKS
The Sigourney City Council has amended their Code of Ordinances. Effective August 12th the City will be cleaning up any glass bottles, glass, nails, tacks, wire, cans, trash, garbage, rubbish, litter, offal, grass clippings, tree leaves, pine needles, shrub clippings, vines, small trees, brush, limbs, construction material or structural debris or any other substance likely to injure any person, animal or vehicle that is thrown or deposited on any street or sidewalk. All costs, billings, or charges incurred in the removal and clean up shall be billed to the person who caused the items to be placed on the street or sidewalk or to the adjoining property owner. Failure to pay those costs, billings or charges shall result in a lien being placed against said property. Example: If you leave your grass clippings in the street, the minimum charge will be $210.00. This would include the use of the street sweeper for one hour, one City employee for one hour and administrative fees.
